WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS

Every summit attendee could dive into the future of security technology through engaging and interactive workshops at the Nordic SecTech Summit. Our workshops, carefully curated for both novices and industry experts, offer a hands-on exploration of the latest trends, innovations, and best practices in the security sector. Led by seasoned professionals, these sessions provide a unique opportunity to gain practical skills, exchange ideas, and stay at the forefront of security advancements. It was a great opportunity to elevate your expertise by joining us for an immersive learning experience that shaped the future of security technology.

This year everyone had an opportunity to attend 5 workshops

ON THE TRAIL OF CYBER CRIMINALS

Together with the Workshop participants we went on the trail of cyber criminals, during which we will explore the full life cycle of ransomware viruses. The Workshop showed different groups of cyber criminals, the most common methods of data theft and what they can do with the stolen data. In addition, the behind-the-scenes of the dark web data trade, the ransomware team was explored. There were given recommendations on how to protect the company and its employees and where to turn for help.

The workshop was led by Elvijs Bogdanovs, Chief Inspector, Cybercrime Combating Division 3, General Criminal Police Directorate, State Police of Latvia.

STID SECURITY SHOWCASE

STid Security provided hands on demonstrations on some of the threats to your security systems. After the theoretical session attendees had an opportunity how easily most access control systems can be breached by attacking the hardware. We also did talk about the next generation of access control that is now available and promoted called Transparent mode and how this will change the way every specialist plan their high to ultra-high security access control systems.

INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS IN REAL LIFE

Real and working security systems on a single integrated platform, including security and access control systems, various sensors (motion, seismic, glass-breaking). Also cameras with artificial intelligence (AI) video analytics and a security management software solution.

Workshop attendees saw real examples of modern security technologies, such as how AI cameras recognise specific attributes and assist in security work, alarm capabilities based on AI metadata filters. We also showed how a single security management system can work smarter and with fewer resources, as well as manage your on-site systems more efficiently. How to work with EDGE metadata (external device analytics), why EDGE analytics is better than server-based solutions. The workshop also did explain how to work with archive and analytical bookmarks. Lecturers were talking and showing the handling of alarms, which they created together during the workshop.

The workshop will be led by experienced ALTAS IT experts - Oskars Pirags and Ivars Nagainis.

SECURITY EDUCATION: opportunities for synergies between academia and industry

In the workshop, representatives of Turiba University ERASMUS+ security education project SECUREU presented the results and conclusions of the project, as well as discussed with the participants the current issues in the field of education and the future of the security profession. They did take a look at ways to ensure both the development and generation of professionals and to help the industry to realise security awareness, improve public safety and engage the industry in academia.

The workshop will be led by two security experts and experienced lecturers of Turiba University - Uģis Začs and Kārlis Apalups.

MOTOROLA - Solving for Safer

Motorola experts guided workshop participants in a full body cam usage with live demo and software introduction. Here everyone had a chance to see, get hands-on cameras and try in real life.

Attendees were able to see, try and test its effectiveness in person.
